Delicious Japanese snack and Japanese Mom approved!
These YAMASAN KYOTO UJI Japanese Walnuts Mochi Candies are soft and (doughy) chewy, like turkish delights, but not as dry, or powdery. There are (very mild crunchy) walnut pieces throughout. The candies are sweet, but not overly so, and they come individually wrapped inside the package.
This mochi is a little more firm than a lot of the room temp packaged mochi I’ve tried which I love. I don’t like it too soft. The taste is mild and softly sweet. I’m confused by people who call it very sweet. I don’t love super sweet stuff. Maybe it would seem sweet in comparison to like certain brands of Japanese mochi that have very little sweetness but if we’re just talking general sweetness ranges, to me it’s maybe about as sweet as a twizzler. I was expecting like a crunchy peanut butter texture as far as the walnut goes but it’s not. The walnuts almost seem to be sliced thinly rather than chunks which works really well with the texture of the mochi and it isn’t like a weird shock of something chunky in the soft mochi. I actually find these to be perfectly balanced in both texture and sweetness I’m quite happy with these.
These traditional Japanese sweets are soft, chewy, and have a mild, pleasant taste that brings back nostalgic memories. The addition of walnuts adds a nice crunch and makes each bite satisfying. Individually wrapped for freshness, they are perfect for sharing or enjoying on the go. For anyone who appreciates traditional Japanese confections, these mochi candies are a must-try.
These were really sweet for just one mochi. But, they tasted amazing. It has a crunch factor due to the walnuts. I liked that part the most since it was a nice mouth sensation. Easy portioned pieces of mochi.
